Compact drop-down nose/tail for longboard
Working on a mini drop-down longboard, I thought how to make a compact drop-down nose part using only simple woodworking tools.
The traditional bended drop-down longboard nose section is quite long. E.g., the distance between truck rear bolts and the platform edge is about 3”. Moreover, a pressing system is not the simplest tool.

A layered build-up drop-down nose with a separate cantilever part and a truck mounting plate is also quite long and it looks cumbersome.

I’ve decided to use the rear bolts of the truck as the front bolts of the cantilever at the same time. How it works, you can see on the sketch and photos below. It looks like a crossbreed of the drop-through and top mounting. Now the layered drop-down nose part is very compact, quite durable and it allows adjusting a lowered platform height using spacers. Drop-through mounting is also compact, but this compact drop-down mounting is more durable and can provide a deeper lowering.

Now my ship has a very short forecastle deck.

I think this compact drop-down mounting is also suitable for long boards to make a rider stance wider.
